Thai police report 90% arrest success rate in crackdown.

The Royal Thai Police (RTP) reported significant strides in combating crime across five major areas under Police General Kittirat Phanphet’s leadership over the past month. Since early October, the police have addressed nearly 44,000 criminal cases, with a 90% arrest rate.
In the criminal offenses category, arrests were made in 39,850 out of 43,973 cases. This includes serious and high-profile crimes, where 164 of 186 cases (88%) led to arrests. For cases involving life, body, and sexual offenses, 1,092 arrests were made from 1,252 cases, resulting in an 87% success rate.
Property crimes totaled 3,319 cases, with police resolving 2,897, achieving an 87% arrest rate. However, the police struggled with more complex cases, solving only 1,053 out of 2,449 incidents, or 43%. On a positive note, crimes involving the state as the victim saw a high resolution rate of 96%, with 7,047 arrests from 7,331 cases.
Nationwide efforts to combat drug-related crimes led to the arrest of individuals involved in 10,970 serious drug offenses and 26 conspiracy charges, as well as the seizure of assets valued at 300 million baht.
The police issued 59 arrest warrants and began money laundering proceedings in two cases. Seized narcotics included 59 million methamphetamine tablets, 2,600 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice), 326 kilograms of heroin, 85,000 ecstasy tablets, and 480 kilograms of ketamine.
Technology-related crimes saw significant police action, with 37,320 online crime reports filed, resulting in financial losses exceeding 3.3 billion baht. The police froze 40,186 bank accounts, recovering 385 million baht, and arrested 113 suspects linked to crimes causing 903 million baht in financial damages.
In a major crackdown on online gambling, the police targeted four websites and arrested 23 suspects linked to an annual financial turnover of 544 million baht. Efforts to block illegal activities included shutting down 6,172 URLs, 3,681 Facebook pages, and 2,325 LINE accounts.
Progress was made in the fight against human trafficking, with 21 cases brought to court and 33 suspects arrested. Efforts to assist victims in their recovery and rehabilitation are ongoing, according to KhaoSod.
Additionally, the police have made significant progress in addressing informal debt issues, processing 234 cases and resolving 197, while 37 cases remain active, involving total debts of 5.2 million baht. A spokesperson emphasized the police’s commitment to enhancing public safety and security.
